Starting in the 2023 season, the Lady Cougar Volleyball team will compete in one of the south’s fastest growing sports. The Florida native, Coach Mia Hague, will be leading the charge. “I am very excited to begin this journey at Central Hinds! For this season, I will be looking forward to building and growing this volleyball program from the ground up,” Hague said.
Coach Hague is finishing her degree at William Carey University in Hattiesburg where she was a 4 year starting outside hitter for the Lady Crusaders and was named the 2022 Southern States Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year. In addition to being a player, Coach Hague has been coaching for the Coqui Volleyball Club for the past 2 years. Hague is excited for what’s next, “I’m ready to press start on this season, and I am beyond grateful for this opportunity!“ she said.
Athletic Director, Henry Gantz, is thrilled about the new program and the person in charge. "I think Central Hinds has a rising superstar in Coach Hague, and I believe that she is the perfect person to lead our brand new program,” said Gantz. “I’m most excited about her focus and enthusiasm for building a strong program. Having her on our coaching staff certainly adds to our school’s momentum."
Steve McCartney, CHA’s Head of School, is thrilled with this move for the school. He said, “adding volleyball to the school’s athletic program will be huge for us. The initial response from the potential volleyball athletes has been amazing. Coach Hague’s enthusiasm is contagious, and I’m confident that the fall sports season will be richer and more exciting with volleyball on campus.”
Be on the lookout for the volleyball schedule to be released this summer. Go Lady Cougar Volleyball!!!
