Hunter's ties to Central Hinds go much farther than his time here from 2nd grade until his graduation in 2011. His mother J.J. Farrior taught preschool for many years and has recently returned as a teacher in the 5 year old kindergarten classroom. His two brothers are also alumni: Chase, class of 2014 and Breck, class of 2023. Hunter also mentions how the cougar community now includes many of his former classmates as current patrons with their own children enrolled as the next generation. While at CHA Hunter was an MAIS All-Star in football while also participating in basketball and track. He served as student body president as well. When asked about his memories from his time as a cougar he mentions" Coach Barrett, Mr. W's hand-drawn spelling lists, Mrs. Smith's mnemonic riddles for remembering elements, bringing quarters for the Fruitopia machine, everyone eating nachos at 9AM, the field day slip and slide, and two-a-days". He also says the small school atmosphere at CHA taught him a lot about life. He says, "Being a smaller school, it taught me the value in loyalty and responsibility. That success is not a matter of accolades or income, but the degree to which you are able to impact lives of others. It taught me the difference in transactional relationships and real relationships. Five real friends can accomplish much more than a hundred transactional relationships."
After graduation Hunter received his Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State University as part of the class of 2016 where he majored in Agribusiness, with Minors in Business Administration and Economics. He has lived in several places since graduation like New Orleans, LA and Calhoun, Georgia. He currently lives in Brandon, MS with his wife Peyton and his two daughters, Eva, 2 years old and Indie, 1 year old. He says of all his accomplishments being dad is the one of which he is most proud. His accomplishments, however, are many. He is the owner of Spring Legion Turkey Hunting Gear & Apparel, Host of The Spring Legion Podcast, Author of Ballad of a Turkey Hunter and Any Given Spring Morning and a Licensed Real Estate Agent. The popularity of his two books have made him an Amazon #1 Best Selling Author twice in multiple categories. Hunter says several things helped lead him into these varied but connected professions, "Primarily, to impact the outdoors by preserving the culture and heritage of hunting, which are often overshadowed by technology. We aim to bring an old-school mindset to new-age mediums." Hunter has great advice for cougars in all area of life when he says, "A degree will usually only help you get the first job. Experience gets you the rest. But your ability to figure things out will determine whether or not you excel at any of them. Focus more on HOW to learn, rather than WHAT to learn". He also says to remember that "hard work pays off".
When he isn't hard at work on one of his many career ventures, Hunter focuses on spending time with his family. They attend First Baptist Church Brandon.
